Where It All Began
Long before there was a KiMi's Kwilts & Krafts, there was a sewing table, a stack of fabric, and a mother who loved to sew. My sister and I grew up at that table handing over pins, holding fabric steady, learning to thread a needle before we could really understand why it mattered.
It mattered because sewing was never just about the fabric. It was time together. It was patience. It was making something with your hands for someone you love.
From Hobby to Heirloom
As an adult, that table became a place my mother and I shared again this time making youth quilts, complete with matching pillowcases and a little carry-pillow, as gifts for baby showers. Every stitch was for a baby who hadn't even met the world yet, wrapped in something made by hands that already loved them.
Those quilts taught me something I've carried ever since: the best gifts aren't the ones you buy off a shelf. They're the ones that hold a memory inside them.
Why KiMi's Kwilts & Krafts Exists
That's what I set out to create here quilts that aren't just blankets, but family heirlooms in the making. A wall tapestry that holds the names and dates of the day your family began. A crib quilt that wraps a new baby in something made just for them. A youth quilt a child will one day hand down themselves.
Every Kwilt is handmade to order, personalized with the names, dates, and messages that make your story yours. My hope is that one day, long after it's given, someone will pull out a KiMi's Kwilt and remember exactly who made it, why, and who it was made for — the same way I remember my mother's hands guiding mine at that sewing table.
